I absolutely love the idea of the Blogger Recognition Award! Basically, bloggers get nominated by other bloggers for having inspiring pages and get to pay it forward to other bloggers of their choice. Talk about a total happiness booster! I feel so honored and happy to accept this award and get an even better happiness kick by getting to spotlight some of my favorite bloggers I have seen around the interwebs.
This post contains affiliate links. By purchasing through my link, I may make a small commission at no cost to you.
Paying it forward and giving credit to others is a huge help to your happiness. Gretchen Rubin, one of my absolute favorite happiness experts, talks about the importance giving gold stars, or the act of giving people genuine compliments and praise.
Here are the rules of the Blogger Recognition Award:
- Thank the blogger who nominated you and provide a link to their blog
- Write a post to show your award
- Give a brief story of how your blog started
- Give two pieces of advice to new bloggers
- Select 15 other bloggers you want to give this award to
- Comment on each blog and let them know you have nominated them and provide the link to the post you created.
So, a huge shout out to Sushmita Thakare Jain over at her blog EFR International for nominating me for this award!
My Blogging Story
The Happy Life Formula was started as a creative outlet for me. I work in finance (I love saving money and crunching numbers), but I also have a true passion for writing and being creative! 2017 is the year that I turn 30, so I wanted to make this a big year for pushing myself to achieve my dreams and create a brighter future for myself. Creating my blog (see how you can start a blog of your own here) has been such a blessing in the way that I get to express myself through my website and help to inspire other women to take action towards living a happy life! On January 16, 2017 I marked on my calendar that it would be my day to purchase my blog domain via BlueHost, get setup on WordPress, and begin my blogging journey!
I picked this day because it was Martin Luther King Jr. Day, so I had the whole day off from work to focus on myself and my blog, as well as the power behind starting my dream on such a powerful day. Once I was all set up, I set the date of March 1, 2017 to press the go live button no matter how scared I was! It has been an exciting, challenging, and empowering journey ever since. If this is your first visit to my blog, welcome! I hope you are inspired to keep looking around and continue to follow my journey.
Two Pieces of Advice for New Bloggers
My first piece of advice for new bloggers is to network, network, network! Get yourself out there in the blogging Facebook groups, talk to other bloggers, share what you learn back with them, encourage them, let them support you, just put yourself out there to connect with the blogging world. One of my favorite parts about starting my blog has been this community that I have instantly become a member of. The blogging community is HUGE, filled with so many talented and creative people, and is so inspiring to be a part of.
My second piece of advice is to get yourself on Pinterest! Confession: Pinterest was my LEAST favorite social media platform before I started blogging. I rarely used my account, I didn’t really understand it, and I just kind of let it sit there. When I started my blog, I had a personal account with about 200 followers, 5 boards, and a few random pins. Now that I have gotten serious about my Pinterest game, I have over 900+ followers, I invested in Tailwind to automate some of my pinning , and I am OBSESSED!
Now, the moment you have all been waiting for- my nominations! Please take the time to visit some of these wonderful bloggers and support the businesses they are working so hard to build. I am inspired by all of them- from their articles, to their site design, to their creativity in general!
